TEAM TALK AT EDINBURGH UNIVERSITY

Screen Shot 2018-04-18 at 15.39.59.png

EVERY good team needs to talk - talk about what works, what doesn't work, the joys and the challenges.  So how do we all do that and make it easy on each other?  Today's topics covered tactics that teams can use to help speak about things that matter in a way that is helpful and productive.

When teams work well there can be chaos around them and they will be united and focussed despite that turmoil.  Today's team care about each other, work hard,  have focus and all it takes to be an effective and influential team. Now they also have a few handy tactics should they ever need them.  Great discussions all round - thank you Edinburgh University

ABERDEEN PRIORITY FAMILIES AND SERVICES - TRAINING DAYS

HELPING TEAMS TO HELP OTHERS

HELPING TEAMS TO HELP OTHERS

I work with so many teams that face daily challenges with a smile and a positive approach and the last two days were spent with one of them.  With responsibility for supporting families throughout Aberdeen this multi agency team has so many qualities to help them along the way and I was privileged to see those qualities and talents for myself this week.

It was pleasure to deliver a comprehensive programme specifically designed to their area of work.    Thank you APFS for your focus, contributions and discussions as well as your humour and fun exchanges.

A BUSINESS BUILT ON HARD WORK, ETHICS AND VALUES

Hard Work,

Ethics

Values

It doesn't get much better than that and I had the pleasure of working with the inspirational gym owner Ross Stewart and his team this week.

When a small business succeeds through dedication and focus many changes occur including the success and expansion of the business.  Adapting to those changes is essential and Team Improve Glasgow are doing just that.

Moving to larger premises, more space, more trainers, more opportunity and a complete focus on  maintaining all thats good about their humble start Ross is reviewing all they do and how they operate.

That review includes re-examining their values, something truly important at the centre of the business and what it stands for.

Involving all of his staff and taking his client's feeling into consideration everyone is involved and opinions matter.

If this gym was a restaurant it would have the standards and service of a Michelin 3 star and the fun and community feel of your favourite family restaurant - what a fabulous combination

We shared a fulfilling afternoon working on the more strategic side of communication.

Thank you Ross, Rachel, Ally, Callum and Lewis

COMMUNICATION COURSE - LONDON

With demand for a single day course growing I had the pleasure of working with motivated coaches and trainers in central London today.  Art of Communication Courses are always professional and lighthearted which creates a positive environment to learn, discuss and try out some communication tactics.  The condensed one day course worked a treat with everyone's brains fully worked.  Enthusiasm and positivity reigned - yay :-)

Thank you London - another one day course is scheduled for September

COMMUNICATION COURSE - DUNDEE 2018

While many of my courses and presentations take place in a conference room, hotel or place of work, my 'once a year' course is hosted at a small homely gym in Dundee.  While this may seem a bit out of the ordinary, Good Health and Fitness is where the inspiration for the Art of Communication all started.

In the last year I have travelled across the UK, to the USA, will soon be heading to Vancouver Island in Canada to share the amazing and fascination world of human behaviour and communication but no matter how my business develops I will always host a course at this location. A homely, wholesome gym where people matter and feel fulfilled ....... what better setting to reflect my business ethics.

Relaxed yet professional, lighthearted yet focussed, a glass of fizz, a bowl of home made soup and new friendships along the way.  Thank you to a fabulous team that made the weekend a truly enjoyable one.

THE TRUE MIRACLE MAKERS

I was asked by MCQIC, Scottish Patient Safety Programme to present to this talented group of health professionals who are at the sharpest end of the stick (of the syringe!!), taking care of sick children in life critical situations.

As with many medical professionals, they spend so much time giving of themselves and making life better for others that time together like this seldom happens. Today was full of presentations and workshops to analyse and review their work and it was a privilege to offer this team a few helpful communication tactics to use within a demanding a super busy working environment.

Complete respect ladies and gents for all you do

WEBINAR - A NEW EXPERIENCE!

It was pleasure to present to Precision Nutrition on Monday evening particularly to a global audience who have an interest in developing their communication skills within their profession.   Tonight concentrated on managing lies and helping coaches navigate their way through situations where lies are impacting on the their work.  We also covered ways to change opinions in others and worked both topics around mini case studies.

In my former role most days brought moments of nervousness - those nerves we all need to sharpen our senses in readiness for the job we are about to do.  By surprise I found those nerves that I haven't felt in a couple of years returning as I prepared to go live ........ what a fun thing to happen.

Technology and I have a bit of a love / hate relationship and we had 'moments' during our webinar - that means I learned a lot too -  what a fabulous experience and one that allowed us to connect across the world.

THE GODDESS FORMULA

What a wonderful evening in Inverness supporting The Goddess Formula during the launch of their entrepreneurial business to connect like minded ladies.

https://goddessformula.com

Formalising the 'lets help each other' approach into a business where everyone benefits is as energising as the chat and buzz in Inverness.  Thank you to Lucy and Georgina, the brains and inspiration behind the business who asked me to speak.

Capturing my transition from a very young police officer when female officers formed less than 4% of staff through 30+ years and all the changes it brought, my presentation promoted the evolution of women across private and public business and organisations.

Enjoying a few hours of discussion it was a joy to meet amazing ladies doing amazing things.

Congratulations to The Goddess Formula - wishing you every success
